A 2012 Forbes article named Wicker Park the #4 hippest hipster neighborhood in the country. Whether that is good or bad might be up for debate. What is not in debate is the popularity of this diverse and vibrant neighborhood.
Noted as a creative epicenter, Wicker Park/Bucktown lies just west of downtown Chicago. The synonymous neighborhoods are famous for unparalleled shopping, art galleries, and culture. Wicker Park/Bucktown is known to students and downtown workers as a convenient place to live due to its proximity to The Loop. The consistent popularity of Wicker Park/Bucktown has brought with it increased business activity, with many new stores, bars, restaurants, and galleries to serve these individuals.
Today, as more and more businesses, day care centers, schools, and churches open in the area, a more and more diverse and balanced mix of people proudly call Wicker Park/Bucktown home. The neighborhood was designated a Chicago Landmark District in 1991.
